On the move to Lisboa
Now on a train in Lisbon, there is some catching up we need to do. The last couple days in Paris were unexpected, full of good food and fun! We ended up having a rather lazy Sunday, sleeping in, grabbing coffee and catching up a bit on work and school and then went out to dinner that night at this cute little restaurant on a hill after we snacked and drank a bottle of orange wine in our apartment. We ordered focaccia, lamb, and cauliflower yummy things and finished the dinner with a pistachio pavlova which was pretty insane. On Monday we woke up and went to two different coffee shops, telescope where we both got flat whites and scones with jam and butter and then mobilized to a second coffee shop called the coffee where we played chess and hot chai before making the journey to the louvre. Being a person who had always wanted to experience the louvre but never had the chance, I knew it would be chaotic but it was truly very overwhelming. Both Grace and I, after waiting in security, darted straight for the Mona Lisa and then slowly cruzed through the rest of the museum. It was breathtaking but also exhausting, I think mainly because there is so much to look at all the time that it feels like your eyes are just constantly on a workout. For dinner that night we found a veggie heavy Mediterranean restaurant that was absolutely amazing!!!! we got a grilled eggplant dish in tahini along with lamb pita pockets which really knocked my socks off.
Yesterday, the last day in Paris:( we grabbed coffee, hopped in an uber and went to the airport to get on our short flight to Lisbon! I think leading up to this spring break there were a lot of mixed emotions swimming around, feeling the need to have rest yet also wanting to capitalize on the time to travel and see a lot of different places. All that to say, the Lisbon portion of this week was something I was immensely excited for and getting here in person was a bit of a rough entry. Unfortunately for us we booked an amazing airbnb however the location is a bit off the mark of the central downtown area and after walking aimlessly around for two hours I realized Lisbon is actually quite the challenge to navigate and also very hilly. I don't know why the vision in my mind of Lisbon was a flat city cradled by hills but that is not the case. We found some cute spots and got an amazing dinner at this greek restaurant called keif which has some of the cutest branding i have ever seen, and then slept long and hard.
Today we woke up and went to the folks coffee and then dramatico coffee, both amazing and now we are on a train to the coast! I am very excited to see a bit of the water, soak in the salt and get out of the city for a minute before heading back to Lisbon and then to florence!
